2016-2017 YEAR IN REVIEW: PART 1 – MAJOR MILESTONES

Medicine Hat, AB — As the Tigers season came to a dramatic end on April 18th to the hands of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, many good moments happened throughout the season. Players hit some memorable milestones in their career.

In part 1 of our Year In Review, we breakdown the season’s major milestones:

 

September

September 24th, 2016 vs. Lethbridge – Chad Butcher records his first career 5+ point game recording 1G and 5A

September 24th, 2016 vs. Lethbridge – Zach Fischer scores his first career hat trick and first ever hat trick at the Canalta Centre

September 24th, 2016 vs. Lethbridge – Duncan McGovern records his first WHL victory stopping 15 of 17 shots

September 30th, 2016 vs. Saskatoon – Kristians Rubins scores the first goal in his WHL career

September 30th, 2016 vs. Saskatoon – Ryan Chyzowski scores his first career WHL goal

September 30th, 2016 vs. Saskatoon – Dalton Gally records his first career WHL point

September 30th, 2016 vs. Saskatoon – John Dahlstrom records his first career WHL point

 

October

October 5th, 2016 vs. Moose Jaw – John Dahlstrom scores his first career WHL goal

October 11th, 2016 vs. Victoria – Nick Schneider plays in his 100th career WHL game

October 14th, 2016 vs. Calgary – Matt Bradley records his 100th career point with 1G and 1 A

October 14th, 2016 vs. Calgary – Mason Shaw plays in his 100th career WHL game

October 15th, 2016 vs. Vancouver – Zach Fischer plays in his 100th career WHL game

October 19th, 2016 vs. Kootenay – John Dahlstrom scores his first career WHL hat trick

October 19th, 2016 vs. Kootenay – Gary Haden scores his first career WHL goal

October 19th, 2016 vs. Kootenay – Mason Shaw records his first career 5 point game with 5 assists

October 19th, 2016 vs. Kootenay – Dylan MacPherson records his first WHL point

November 12th, 2016 vs. Saskatoon – Mason Shaw records his 100th WHL point with a 3 assist game

November 18th, 2016 vs. Red Deer – Brad Forrest plays in his 100th WHL game

November 23rd, 2016 vs. Brandon – David Quenneville records his 100th WHL point with a 1G, 1A performance

December 9th, 2016 vs. Lethbridge – Ryan Jevne plays in his 100th WHL game

December 9th, 2016 vs. Lethbridge – Chad Butcher records his 200th WHL point with an assist

December 10th, 2016 vs. Calgary – Clayton Kirichenko plays in his 200th WHL game

 

January

January 8th, 2017 vs. Edmonton – Tyler Preziuso plays in his 100th WHL game

January 20th, 2017 vs. Regina – Mason Shaw records his 100th WHL assist

January 27th, 2017 vs. Edmonton – Dalton Gally scores his first career WHL goal

January 31st, 2017 vs. Kootenay – Clayton Kirichenko records his 100th WHL point with an assist

February 11th, 2017 vs. Lethbridge – Michael Bullion gets his first WHL shut out in a 5-0 victory

February 15th, 2017 vs. Victoria – James Hamblin plays in his 100th WHL game

February 15th, 2017 vs. Victoria – Steven Owre records his 200th WHL point

February 18th, 2017 vs. Edmonton – Max Gerlach scores his 30th goal of the season

February 21st, 2017 vs. Moose Jaw – Josh Williams scores his 1st career WHL goal

February 25th, 2017 vs. Brandon – Matt Bradley plays in his 200th WHL game

February 25th, 2017 vs. Brandon – Mark Rassell scores his 30th goal of the season

 

March

March 3rd, 2017 vs. Regina – Zach Fischer scores his 30th goal of the season

March 4th, 2017 vs. Moose Jaw – Mark Rassell plays in his 200th WHL game

March 4th, 2017 vs. Moose Jaw – John Dahlstrom scores his 25th goal of the season, breaking the Tigers record for most goals by an Import in one season

March 7th, 2017 vs. Kootenay – Max Gerlach records his 100th WHL point with an assist

March 10th, 2017 vs. Edmonton – Matt Bradley scores his 30th goal of the season

March 14th, 2017 vs. Red Deer – Chad Butcher plays in his 300th WHL game (All with the Tigers), he would finish 8th All-Time in games played

March 17th, 2017 vs. Lethbridge – John Dahlstrom scores his 30th goal of the season

March 17th, 2017 vs. Lethbridge – Chad Butcher records 100 points on the season

March 18th, 2017 vs. Lethbridge – Clayton Kirichenko records a +50 rating and 50 assists, the first Tigers defenseman to do so since David Schlemko in 2006-07

March 18th, 2017 vs. Lethbridge – Mark Rassell records his 100th WHL point

 

As next season approaches, new faces will join the lineup looking for their 1st ever goal and many familiar faces will look to pad their stats and create new memories for the fans of Medicine Hat.
