RUBINS NAMED TO TEAM LATVIA SELECTION CAMP ROSTER

Medicine Hat, AB — Another Medicine Hat Tiger will have the opportunity to represent his country at the 2017 edition of the World Junior Championships as defenseman Kristians Rubins was named to Team Latvia’s selection camp which will kick off later next week. Currently Rubins is battling an upper body injury but hopes to be healthy for the tournament.

Like teammate John Dahlstrom, this won’t be the first time Rubins has represented his country. Rubins participated with Latvia in the World Junior Championships for Division 1A the past 2 years, recording 7 points in 12 games. Latvia earned the right to play in the World’s top Division this year as they won the Gold Medal. This tournament will be Rubins 12th time putting on the Latvia jersey.

This season with the Tigers, his first full season in North America, Rubins has made an impact recording 2 goals and 11 assists for 13 points and contributing on the Tigers number 1 ranked power play this year. Rubins will join one other WHL player at camp as Kamloops Blazer forward Rudolfs Balcers was invited.

The Tigers wish the best of luck to Kristians on this excellent opportunity.
