TIGERS COME BACK TO WIN 4-3 IN OVERTIME OVER THE BRONCOS
The Medicine Hat Tigers battled their way back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Swift Current Broncos 4-3 in overtime.
Ryan Jevne scored his second of the night 3:07 into overtime to win the game for the home team.
Jevne opened the scoring in the first period on the power play by swatting in a bouncing puck. Ryan Chyzowski and Mark Rassell assisted on the play.
The Broncos captain Glenn Gawdin scored the lone goal of the middle frame to tie the game up after 40 minutes of play.
Aleksi Heponiemi and Artyom Minulin scored early in the third frame to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.
The Tigers continued to battle and their hard work paid off. On a play that started with James Hamblin, Rassell passed the puck to Bryan Lockner from behind the net and Lockner fired the puck home to cut the Broncos’ lead to one.
Just over five minutes later, Broncos goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped Gary Haden’s shot, but the rebound rolled off his pad to Elijah Brown who buried the rebound to tie the game up at 3. David Quenneville assisted on the play.
Jevne’s 16th goal of the season was the game winner for the home team.
Michael Bullion made 28 saves on the 31 shots he faced. Skinner stopped 34 of the Tabbies’ 38 shots.
The Tigers are now 29-24-7-0 and will host the Kootenay ICE Tuesday night at the Canalta Centre. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.
