The Tigers opened the season on the road against the rival Hurricanes. Last season, the Tigers had a 4-3-0-1 record in the eight games against Lethbridge. Six Tigers made their debut for the orange and black, including import goaltender Marek Langhamer who got the start in net.

The Tigers came out quickly and took an early lead. Kale Kessy put the Tigers on the board with Boston Leier and Jayden Hart picking up the assists. The Tigers continue to control the play throughout the period outshooting the Canes 10-4.

Lethbride would turn the tables in the second period. Despite each team getting 12 shots on net, the Hurricanes were able to score three straight to take a two goal lead into the final period. Brady Ramsay, Jamal Watson and Sam Mckechnie were the goal scores for Lethbridge. The Hurricanes special teams played a huge role in the period. Ramsay’s goal came off an early power play and Mckechnie’s was an unassisted shorthanded marker.

Jayden Hart responded for the Tigers early in the third period with a power play goal of their own. Dylan Busenius and Curtis Valk picked up the assists on the goal. Unfortunately the goal would bring the Tigers as close as they would get. As time expired in the final period Jaimen Yakubowski scored an empty netter to give the Hurricanes a 4-2 win.
