Medicine Hat, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers announced this afternoon changes to their hockey operations department.
Head coach Shaun Clouston will add the title of general manager to his coaching duties.
General manager Brad McEwen will return to the assistant general manager position he held since 2007 to concentrate fully on head scout responsibilities.
“I would like to thank Brad McEwen and the Tigers Hockey Club for the opportunity to expand my role within the organization,” said general manager/head coach Shaun Clouston.
“We have a terrific group of people within our club that work extremely well together. I am very happy to continue to work along side Brad, Darren, Joey and the entire Tigers staff,” stated Clouston.
Clouston is entering his tenth season with the Tigers, having joined the club as an assistant coach at the beginning of the 2003-04 season.
McEwen, the 2002 WHL Executive of the Year, returns to the role of assistant general manager after two years at the helm of the Tigers as general manager. He spent four seasons as the head of scouting for the Tigers prior to becoming general manager in 2010-11. McEwen has been responsible for the overseeing the Tigers scouting program since rejoining the Tigers in 2007.
“I am excited by our new hockey operations structure,” said McEwen. “This will allow me to totally concentrate on our scouting program which is the life blood of all junior hockey teams and what I enjoy doing most.”
“I really felt the timing was right for this move having worked closely with Shaun for the past two seasons,” concluded McEwen.
