Medicine Hat, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers complete a three-game road trip with a 2-1-0-0 record after falling to the Kootenay ICE 5-0 today.
Heading into today’s game, the Tabbies had defeated the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 in a shootout and the Tri-City American 2-0 on their Western road trip before paying a visit to Cranbrook to play the ICE.
Despite outshooting the ICE 45-34, the Orange and Black were unable to solve ICE netminder Duncan McGovern.
The ICE scored 17 seconds apart early in the first period to set the tone early in the game. Veteran forwards Brendan Semchuk and Keenan Taphorn scored the early markers.
Late in the frame, ICE forward Davis Murray scored to extend the lead to 3-0.
Although both teams had their chances in the second stanza, only ICE’s Brad Ginnell was able to light the lamp.
Early into the final frame, Sam Huston scored the fifth and final goal for the home team making it a 5-0 game.
Tigers’ goaltender Jordan Hollett made 29 saves on 34 shots faced.
The Orange and Black are now 3-4-0-1 and will return home to host the Prince George Cougars on Friday and the ICE on Saturday. Both games will start at 7:30 PM at the Canalta Centre.
