Medicine Hat, AB — The Tigers will be represented again at the U18 World Championships taking place in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Just days after Head Coach and General Manager Shaun Clouston was named the Head bench boss for Team Canada, Tigers Athletic Therapist Mikki Lanuk will be joining the club as the Head Athletic Therapist for the tournament.
“I am extremely honoured and excited to once again be a part of the Team Canada support staff. This is a great opportunity and I look forward to the many challenges it may bring and the new friends that will be made,” said Lanuk in a quick interview Tuesday.
Lanuk has previously been apart of the Team Canada program in his career, having spent the 2007 Christmas season at the World Junior Championships where Lanuk took home a gold medal.
His other stint with Hockey Canada came in 2003 when he was with the Kamloops Blazers acting as Head Therapist for the U18 National Team.
This past season Lanuk surpassed the 1000 games mark on October 16th, a feat for over 10 seasons of dedication to his players and their health.
The Medicine Hat Tigers congratulate Mikki on this honor and wish him and Team Canada the best of the luck in the tournament.
Canada kicks off the tournament April 15th when they take on Denmark.
