Medicine Hat, AB — On Thursday afternoon, NHL Central Scouting released its November ‘Players to Watch’ list for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, with 58 WHL players being named, two of which were Medicine Hat Tigers players.
Tigers forward Mason Shaw, who led the WHL in scoring and participated in the Canada/Russia Series is named alongside teammate Kristians Rubins, the 6’5 defenseman from Latvia is having a good first year in North America and participated in Winnipeg Jets camp prior to the season. Both players are ranked as ‘C’ prospects this season.
NHL Central Scouting identifies players with a rating system that includes four categories. The ‘A’ rating indicates a first round candidate, a ‘B’ rating indicates a second or third round candidate, and a ‘C’ rating indicates a fourth, fifth, or sixth round candidate. An ‘LV’ rating indicates Limited Viewing of injured players who have not had sufficient viewings to be categorized.
A total of nine WHL players were named “A” prospects, 11 players named ‘B’ prospects and 38 listed as ‘C’ prospects.
