HODASS TO REPRESENT LATVIA AT THE 2022 WORLD JUNIOR HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Defenceman Bogdans Hodass has been selected to represent Latvia at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 9-20 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

The summer competition is a make up of the original tournament scheduled in December and January, which was cancelled due to COVID-19. Latvia, who originally took part in the 2022 IIHF World Junior Division 1-A Championships in Denmark is now in the top division as a replacement for Russia.

Hodass had a successful 2021-22 campaign with the Tigers, playing in 57 games where he recorded seven goals and 24 points in those contests. This is the Jelgava, Latvia product’s third time competing at an international level. He represented Latvia in 2022 World Junior Division 1-A tournament last winter, registering three assists in five games. He also played in the 2021 IIHF Under-18 Championships the year prior where he picked up an assist in two games.

The Latvians will open the tournament on Aug. 9 and will be in Group A with Canada, Czechia, Finland and Slovakia. Group B will be made up of Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and the United States.
