Medicine Hat, AB – The Western Hockey League and the Medicine Hat Tigers are pleased to announce the 2017-18 Home Opener which will take place on Saturday September 23rd, 2017.
The Tigers will open the season once again with a home and home series with rival Lethbridge Hurricanes. Tiger fans will be looking for revenge as the Canes defeated the Tigers in Game 7 the last time these teams met at the Canalta Centre. A new season means new results.
Medicine Hat will open the season the day before opening night at the Canalta, as they will travel down Highway 3 to drop the puck at the Enmax Centre.
The home and home series to open the season began in 2012-13 vs. Lethbridge. Since that time the Tigers hold a 7-3-0-0 record and hold a perfect 5-0-0-0 at home. In last season’s home opener Zach Fischer recorded the first ever hat trick in Canalta Centre history in a 9-3 thumping of the Canes.
Puck drop for the home opener will be 7:30pm, however the Tigers remind ticket holders to arrive early and be in your seats as our player and team introductions will commence before puck drop.
The remainder of the regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
Tickets for the general public will go on sale later this fall via ticketmaster.
Season ticket holders are gearing up for the annual Seat Exchange which will take place at the Canalta Centre starting Wednesday July 5th to 7th from 9am to 5pm.
