Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers won their second straight game at Co-op Place with a commanding 6-1 score over the Edmonton Oil Kings Wednesday night.
Things didn’t start according to plan for the Tigers as they’d allow an own goal giving the Oil Kings a 1-0 lead and Mason Finley would be credited with his 5th of the season at 12:26, but the Tigers would get back on track with Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) notching his 9th of the season just moments later at 15:44 from Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) who extended his point streak to 7 games while Brenden Lee (Seattle, WA) would keep his point streak going at 6 straight. Both teams would stay square at 1-1 heading to the second period.
In the second period the Tigers took over thanks to an early power play goal from Lee, his team leading 13th of the year and WHL/CHL leading 9th tally on the power play gave the Tigers what would be the eventual game winning goal with Wiesblatt & Basha once again on the contributing side of things at 5:53. The scoring continued under three minutes later as the line of Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC), Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) & Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) would get their scoring touch as Boehm re-directed a Mrsic feed at 8:01 with help from MacKenzie to give Boehm his 8th of the year.
The Tigers would take a 3-1 lead into the third period and would continue the onslaught of opportunities handed their way as Reid Andresen would cash in on a power play marker for his 4th of the year from Basha and MacKenzie at 3:37, Pasha Bocharov (Escondido, CA) would snap his 5th of the season past Oil Kings starter Kolby Hay at 14:13 from Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) & Captain Owen MacNeil (Calgary, AB). Mrsic would round out the scoring at 16:21 with a seeing eye shot from the top of the left circle for his 3th of the season from Boehm and MacKenzie.
When it was all said and done, the Tigers had multi point efforts from Basha (3 assists), Wiesblatt (1 goal 1 assist), Lee (1 goal, 1 assist), Mrsic (1 goal, 1 assist), Boehm (1 goal, 1 assist) and MacKenzie (3 assists). While start Beckett Langkow (Vegreville, AB) made 25 saves on 26 shots for his 7th win of the season.
