CALGARY, Alta. – The top 196 players in Canada have been invited to attend the men’s camps as part of the National Teams’ Summer Showcase from July 26-Aug. 6.
In its second summer, the National Teams’ Summer Showcase will bring together Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team selection camp (44 players) and Canada’s national under-17 development camp (111 players) in Calgary, at the Markin MacPhail Centre from July 26-Aug. 2. Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp (41 players) will be hosted in Toronto July 30-Aug 2, and will feature a four-game series against the U.S., Sweden, and Finland from Aug. 3-6 in Plymouth, Mich.
For the Tigers 2 prospects will be attending the U17 Development Camp as part of the top 111 players in their age category. Recently signed netminder Duncan McGovern, fresh off his Goaltending Camp earlier in the month in Calgary will be a part of the group.McGovern had a strong 2015-16 season appearing in 39 games with the Central Plains Capitals Midget AAA team based in Manitoba, going 12-10-0-2 with 3 shutouts. In those appearances McGovern posted a 2.45 GAA and 0.919 save percentage. His 2.45 mark ranked 8th among all goaltenders in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League.
Joining McGovern will be forward Ryan Chyzowski who suited up in 6 games for the big club last year as an affiliate skater. For Chyzowski it is his first crack at Team Canada and will be in tough against some of the countries best forwards. Chyzowski recorded 22 points in 31 games for the Thompson Blazers based in Kamloops, BC, including 14 goals.
