TIGERS SELECT MCKENNA 1ST OVERALL

With the 1st overall pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft the Medicine Hat Tigers select…from the Rink Hockey Academy in Kelowna…Gavin McKenna.

McKenna who hails from Whitehorse, YT is the first player to be selected 1st overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers since Ryan Hollweg was selected 1st overall in the 1999 WHL Bantam Draft.

McKenna who stands 5’10 played in 35 games for the Rink Hockey Academy’s U18 team in Kelowna. The ’07 born forward registered 23 goals and added 42 assists, averaging 1.86 points per game playing in a league with players that are three and four years older than him. He finished the season as the leagues leading point getter with 65 points and he lead the U18 league in assists with 42.
