Medicine Hat, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers General Manager and Head Coach Shaun Clouston announced today the signing of 2018 second round draft pick Dru Krebs to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
“We are pleased to welcome Dru and theKrebs family to the Tigers organization,” said Clouston. “We look forward to working together and helping Dru achieve his long term hockey goals.”
Krebs was a member of the Okotoks Oilers Bantam AAA team in the AMBHL this past season. The Okotoks, AB native defenceman played 35 games and picked up 17 points (7 goals and 10 assists). Heis 5’10, 155 lbs and was selected 38th overall by the Tigers in the 2018 Bantam Draft.
“Dru is a talented, smooth skating, heads up defenceman who moves the puck well. He has a high hockey IQ and can walk the blue line giving him the ability to run a power play. Dru comes from a hockey family and has first hand knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the WHL,” said Carter Sears, Director of Player Personnel.
During Orientation Camp, Krebs made the decision to join the Tigers Hockey Organization.
“They welcomed me with open arms and when I saw the facilities, I thought I had to go here,” said Krebs.
Krebs’ older brothers, Dakota (Calgary Hitmen) and Peyton (Kootenay Ice) both currently play in the WHL and he looks forward to the opportunity to play against them. Although they will all be apart of teams in the Central Division, Krebs says his brothers are excited for him.
Krebs will report for main training camp in the fall.
