Medicine Hat, AB – With the 1st Selection in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Edmonton Oilers selected St. Albert, AB native Tyler Bunz with the 121st pick.
For the Oilers, it marks player the Oilers have drafted that will play for the Tigers next season.
Rated as the 10th best North American goaltender by Central Scouting, Bunz played the majority of games for the Tigers this past season, seeing action in 57 games, while starting all 12 games in the playoffs.
Having just completed his second season in the Western Hockey League after being the Tigers 1st round WHL Bantam Pick in 2007, Tyler recorded 31 wins and added six more in the playoffs, leading the Tigers a near 2nd round upset of the eventual WHL Champion Calgary Hitmen.
Tyler’s first WHL game as a rookie call-up was played in Rexall Place where he recorded his 1st WHL victory in a 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the age of 16.
