Moose Jaw, SK – The Medicine Hat Tigers won their third straight game with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors at the “Crushed Can” on Wednesday night.
For the Tigers (5-3-0-0), it was the first game of a three game East Division road trip.
Sophmore Emerson Etem put the Tigers ahead 1-0 with his fourth goal of the season early in the 1st period of play. Captain Wacey Hamilton extended his point streak to five games with an assist on the goal.
Tied 1-1 heading into the 2nd period, Tigers defenceman Thomas Carr scored his 2nd goal of the season giving Medicine Hat a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
Drawing assists were forwards Tyler Pitlick and Ryan Harrison, who each extended their point streaks to four games.
With time winding down and the Tigers clinging to a one goal lead, Moose Jaw scored a power play goal with 10 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and an eventual shootout.
Scoring the lone goal of the shootout was Tigers forward Linden Vey, lifting the Tigers to victory.
Tigers netminder Tyler Bunz (3-2-0-0) stopped 31 of 33 shots for his third victory in his last three starts. The Edmonton Oiler draft pick also stopped all three Moose Jaw shooters.
Medicine Hat was 1 for 3 on the power play, while Moose Jaw was 2 for 5.
