TIGERS FALL PREY TO COUGARS

Medicine Hat, AB – The Prince George Cougars took down the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-3 on Saturday night at The Arena dropping the Tigers record to 2-3-0-0.

The Cougars, with three goals in the 1st, built a 3-0 lead heading in the 2nd period.

Medicine Hat found the scoresheet as Captain Wacey Hamilton scored his second goal of the season.

After the Cougars made it 4-1, the Tigers managed to get the crowd back on their side with two goals by Tyler Pitlick and Vahe Zakaryan to pull the Tigers within one with six minutes left in the game.

The comeback fell short, however, as the Cougars fired home an empty net goal to put the game out of reach for Medicine Hat.

Tigers netminder Deven Dubyk (2-1-0-0) stopped 30 of 34 shots in the loss.

Medicine Hat defenceman Jace Coyle managed two assists, extending his point streak to four games.

Medicine Hat was 1 for 3 on the power play, while holding the Cougars scoreless on three man advantages.

Next up for Medicine Hat is a trip to Edmonton to face the Oil Kings on Friday, October 15th in the first game of a home and home series between the two Central Division rivals.  Game time is 7:00 PM and can be heard live on the ATB Financial Tigers Hockey Broadcast (94.5 FM) starting with the pregame show at 6:45 PM with Bob Ridley.
