Edmonton, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers put a halt to the Edmonton Oil Kings five game winning streak with a convincing 7-1 win at
|#14 Cole Grbavac – Two Goals and One Assist
Rexall Place on Friday night.
Leading the charge was Tigers forward Cole Grbavac with a career best two goals, while also adding an assist for his first three-point effort of his WHL career. Defenceman Thomas Carr (1G, 2A) and rookies Hunter Shinkaruk (3A) and Tyler Pitlick (3A) also registered three points for the first time in their careers.
The Tigers, who were coming off back-to-back losses, jumped on the Oil Kings early leading 3-0 after the 1st period of play. Goals by Cole Grbavac, Thomas Carr and Kale Kessy gave the Tigers a three goal lead heading into the 2nd period.
Matt Konan, with his first of the season, and Cole Grbavac scored to put the Tigers into a commanding 5-0 lead.
In the final period, Tigers forwards Emerson Etem and Kale Kessy, with his second of the game, rounded out the scoring for Medicine Hat.
For Kessy, it was his first of the season after sitting out the Tigers previous five with an injury.
Edmonton managed to score once in the third period, the only blemish for Tigers netminder Tyler Bunz (1-2-0-0), who stopped 30 of 31 shots for his first win of the season.
The Tigers, who coming into the game had scored half of their season total of 12 goals on the power play, went 1 for 8 on the night with the man advantage. Edmonton, meanwhile, was 0 for 2.
