Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay Ice took advantage of a depleted Tigers lineup defeating Medicine Hat 6-3 on Tuesday night as Western Hockey League teams returned to action from their holiday break.

The Tigers, despite missing six regulars, outshot the Ice 40-35.  Twice on the night, the Tigers pulled to within one goal before Kootenay iced the game with two late third period goals.

Tyler Pitlick scored twice for the Tigers, who saw their record fall to 23-10-2-0 on the season. The first-year WHL forward extended his personal point streak to nine games.

Fellow Tigers forward Linden Vey scored his team leading 23rd goal of the season, while also adding one assist to remain second overall in WHL scoring with 55 points.

Goaltender Tyler Bunz (16-7-2-0) allowed five goals on 34 shots in the loss.

The Tigers (23-10-2-0) return home to face the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday night.  Game time is 7:00 PM (MST) and can heard live on CHAT 94.5 FM at tigershockey.com or watched via webcast at livestream.whl.ca.
